Afterwards I discovered that not far from these areas which I had ridden through resided tribal groups who had a well deserved reputation for head-hunting (not of the city recruitment type) with a particular penchant for collecting exotic foreign looking heads and placing them on sticks along the main road to ward off unwanted spirits.
